The Fountain of Life Church has announced the appointment of Jimmy Odukoya, a prominent Nollywood actor and son of the late Taiwo and Bimbo Odukoya, as the new senior pastor of the ministry.
The official announcement was made during the church service on Sunday, September 17, 2023.
This change in leadership follows the passing of the former senior pastor, Taiwo Odukoya, who passed away in the United States on August 17, 2023, at the age of 67. The revered preacher was buried at a private ceremony attended by family members and close associates last weekend.
Rotimi Okpaise, a pastor of the Fountain of Life Church, disclosed that the late Odukoya had already shared the succession plan with the Board of Trustees (BoT) before his passing.
Okpaise informed the congregation that Jimmy’s appointment as the senior pastor and chairperson of the board was a unanimous decision of the BoT.
“The board has chosen Saturday, September 30, 2023, as the date of Jimmy’s installation,” he said.
Odukoya’s death came less than two years after the demise of his 47-year-old South African wife, Nomthi Odukoya, who died in 2021 after a battle with cancer.
Before Nomthi, Odukoya was married to Bimbo for 21 years until her tragic death in the Sosoliso plane crash in Port Harcourt in 2005. Their union resulted in three children, one of whom is Jimmy, now appointed as his successor.
Jimmy, known for his versatile talents, played a lead role (Oba Ade) in Netflix’s ‘Woman King’ movie. He is both an actor and musician, having showcased his skills in various films such as ‘Lifting the Veil’, ‘I am Nazzy,’ and ‘Oga Pastor’, among others.
Apart from his involvement in the entertainment industry, Jimmy is recognized as a motivational speaker. This aspect of his profile is deemed to have aptly equipped him for his new responsibilities as the senior pastor of The Fountain of Life Church.
