Abducted Ekiti schoolchildren, teachers finally regain freedom

The children, kidnapped along with their teachers on Monday, regained their freedom Friday evening after four days in captivity.

The schoolchildren and teachers from the Apostolic Faith Group of Schools in Emure-Ekiti, Ekiti State, who were recently abducted by armed individuals, have been set free.

Sources at Emure, Ekiti, said  the children were taken to the Palace of Elemure of Emure Ekiti after their release by their abductors.

It could not be immediately ascertained whether any ransome was paid or not but as at Thursday, parents of the children cried out that they were unable to meet the N100 million being demanded, which was later reduced to N10 million.

The pupils of Apostolic school were kidnapped on Monday on their way home from school, same day two traditional rulers were shot dead by rogue herdsmen.

Two teachers and a lady assistant were also abducted by the armed men.

Ekiti State Police Command has announced the arrest of suspects in connection with the two incidents.
