Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, is set to commence a medical leave on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, for follow-up treatment, as announced by his Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde, in a statement on Tuesday.
According to the statement, Governor Akeredolu will prioritize his health during the medical leave and focus on a complete recovery before returning to his official duties. The necessary formalities, including a letter detailing the medical leave and a notice officially transferring power in accordance with the Nigerian Constitution, will be transmitted to the House of Assembly.
In the absence of Governor Akeredolu, the responsibilities of the office will be assumed by Deputy Governor Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, who will act as the Governor during this period.
Governor Akeredolu expressed his gratitude for the unwavering support and affection from the people of Ondo State. He assured them that his administration remains steadfast in its commitment to the progress and prosperity of the state.
The statement also highlighted Governor Akeredolu’s consistent delegation of power to his deputy, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, particularly during his annual vacations.
