President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Victor Osimhen, Asisat Oshoala, and Chiamaka Nnadozie, who were honoured with the 2023 Confederation of African Football (CAF) awards.
In a statement released by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, President Bola Tinubu extends heartfelt congratulations to Victor Osimhen, Asisat Oshoala, and Chiamaka Nnadozie for their remarkable achievements at the 2023 Confederation of African Football (CAF) awards.
The ceremony, held in Marrakesh, Morocco, saw Osimhen crowned African Footballer of the Year in the male category, while Oshoala secured the title of African Player of the Year in the female category. Nnadozie received the prestigious African Goalkeeper of the Year award, and the Super Falcons were honored as the National Team of the Year.
President Tinubu lauded their accomplishments as “inspirational” and praised them for making Nigeria proud nationally and internationally. He commended their dedication perseverance, and recognized their roles as sources of pride and inspiration for aspiring footballers across the continent.
The President highlighted the significance of witnessing Nigerian ambassadors ascend to the top of African football and emphasized the potential for greatness within the nation. He expressed admiration for Osimhen and Oshoala for acknowledging their roots and humble beginnings, as well as recognizing the contributions of indigenous coaches in shaping their careers.
