Subair Enitan, a student at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), who embarked on a handwashing marathon with the goal of establishing a new Guinness World Record, refuted recent reports suggesting she was hospitalized.
In a video shared through the official X handle for the marathon, Enitan expressed gratitude to her school, supporters, and sponsors.
She took the opportunity to clarify that contrary to the reports, she did not end up in the hospital. Enitan assured viewers of her well-being, stating, “I am better,” and thanked everyone who contributed to the success of the handwashing marathon.
“First of all, I’m sure you can see I’m very much okay. So to the people trending saying I landed in the hospital. I didn’t land in the hospital and these are my hands. I am better. I’ve been in my house with family members, my team members. I’ve been sleeping. I woke up this evening to take pictures. I have been very fine. Just dey play o. Nothing is wrong with me.”
Enitan commenced the marathon on Friday, 24 November and surpassed her initial plan of 50 hours by washing for 58 hours.
The Guinness World Record is yet to confirm Enitan’s record-breaking attempt.
