The Nigeria Police Council has officially confirmed Kayode Egbetokun as the substantive Inspector General Of Police (IGP).
This announcement was made by Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State following a police council meeting held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
During the meeting, President Bola Tinubu, who chaired the police council, also played a role in addressing the political and security situation in Rivers State, particularly the planned impeachment of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
It’s worth noting that Kayode Egbetokun was appointed as IGP by President Tinubu on June 19, 2023, replacing Usman Baba, who had been appointed as IGP by former President Muhammadu Buhari on April 6, 2021.
Egbetokun, born on September 4, 1964, hails from the Egbado South Local Government Area of Ogun State. He joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet ASP (Course 16) on March 3, 1990, and is set to complete 35 years of service by September 2024, as per police regulations.
