A fuel-laden tanker has exploded on the Lagos quadrapont bridge near the National Arts Theater in Lagos state.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is currently working to extinguish the fire.
The Sari Iganmu and Ilupeju fire crews are collaborating to control the blaze.
As of the latest update, the incident involves three tankers (two with fuel contents and one empty), a micro-mini bus, and a tricycle.
“Casualty yet unknown if any as Firefighting continues with Ajegunle Fire Station joining the fray,” the fire service said.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has also dispatched its officers to manage the situation.
In a further update around 11:20 pm, the fire service reported that the inferno has been contained.
The incident involved 11 vehicles, including two tankers, one tipper truck, three trailers, three cars, and two micro-minibuses.
Fortunately, no lives were lost, and there were no reported injuries as all occupants managed to escape unhurt.
Additionally, earlier, a tanker overturned on the Otedola bridge.
The tanker, while transporting diesel, lost control near the Lagos Capital Oil Filling Station on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
It spilled its contents onto the road, and a 14-seater company bus, with three occupants, became trapped beneath it.
The three individuals were eventually rescued unharmed.
