The Kogi State Police command has apprehended nine suspected criminals who have been causing fear among the populace in the state.
During a press briefing in Lokoja, the state capital, Commissioner of Police CP Bethrand Onuoha disclosed this recent development.
Among the suspects, two individuals named ThankGod Joseph and Monday Matthew were arrested at Onicha-Igo in Ofu LGA of Kogi state. The police recovered from them three dane guns, one short gun, one single barrel gun, cutlasses, five jerry cans of stolen palm oil, and several charms.
Additionally, the command arrested three other suspects: Haruna Adamu, Yakubu Mohammed, and Harisu Abdulrasheed for culpable homicide and false alarm.
In a separate incident, the police successfully retrieved an AK47 rifle with live ammunition from suspected kidnappers. They also recovered three Peugeot 206 and 406 cars from suspected car snatchers who have been robbing innocent people of their vehicles.
CP Onuoha stressed the importance of public support in the fight against crime, acknowledging that no police agency can fulfill its safety duties without the assistance of the community.
He urged various groups in Kogi State, including traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth organizations, market bodies, farmers, hunters, transport unions, and others, to collaborate with the police in combating criminals such as kidnappers, armed robbers, and cultists.
