The family of the late Nollywood actor, John Okafor, commonly known as Mr. Ibu, has officially announced his burial arrangements.
Following his recent passing, which came after the amputation of his leg due to an undisclosed illness, the actor will be laid to rest in his hometown of Amuri, located in the Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.
In a statement jointly issued by Mr. Ibu’s brother, Elder Sunday Okafor, it was declared that the late actor would be honored with a burial befitting of a hero.
“The Okafor family in Eziokwe Amuri, Nkanu West LGA in Enugu State wishes to honor the loving memory of our hero and legend, John Ikechukwu Okafor, who even in death has left behind a legacy of love, laughter, and liveliness.
“We warmly invite your esteemed presence as we bid farewell to our beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and in-law on the 28th of June 2024.
“Please join us as we share our fondest and final moments with our cherished icon,” the statement conveyed.
The burial ceremony is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, June 25th, with a notable novelty match. This will be followed by “Mr. Ibu’s Night” on Wednesday, June 26th, which would involve candlelight procession and live entertainment.
On June 27th, a Christian Wake will be held at his residence in Eziokwe Amuri, Nkanu West, while the funeral service will take place on June 28th.
The 5-day commemoration will conclude on Sunday, June 30th, with a Church Thanksgiving ceremony, inviting family members, friends, and well-wishers to express gratitude.
