At least 21 people lost their lives in a tragic motor accident along the Kaduna-Abuja highway, near the border between Kaduna and Niger States, on Thursday.
The crash involved a truck and a passenger bus traveling from Abuja and Katsina State towards Kano.
According to a source from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kaduna, the accident occurred near a traffic diversion in Niger State, where vehicles were forced onto a single lane due to ongoing road reconstruction on the highway, which has been delayed for an extended period.
The FRSC official reported that the truck driver fled the scene, causing significant traffic congestion on the busy highway for several hours. Three survivors were rushed to Umaru Musa Memorial Hospital in Sabon-Wuse, near the Kaduna-Niger border, for treatment, while the bodies of the victims were taken to the hospital’s mortuary.
